Munzee

Munzee turns the world around you into a fantasy adventure. Cappy the Unicorn has crossed into our realm, and strange creatures from distant worlds have followed. As you explore, you’ll discover magical Munzees hidden throughout the real world and help Cappy send these wandering creatures home.

A Munzee can be a physical QR sticker hidden on a lamppost, tree tag, diner window, or anywhere else an adventurer might find one, or a virtual point that appears only on the map in the app. Get close enough, scan it, and you’ve captured it. The player who deployed the Munzee earns Cap-On points too, helping the ever-growing map become part of a global adventure.

Along the way, you can take Cappy on a Daily Stroll to earn Shooting Star credits, spend those stars summoning Wisps at Wishing Wells, and encounter dragons and other mythical creatures hiding in unexpected places. You can also join a Guild and team up with fellow players in Gauntlet Games, cooperative challenges where groups work together toward shared goals. Wherever you go, there’s always another discovery waiting around the corner.

How a capture works

In Munzee lingo, a “cap” is short for capturing a munzee. There are many different types of munzees to cap, from physical QR code stickers (square pins) that you scan with your phone, to invisible virtuals (round pins) that you can cap when you’re within a certain range. Each type offers a different way to explore, collect, and earn points as you adventure!

There’s no single way to play Munzee, so explore and find the parts of the adventure you enjoy most. Deploy your own Munzees and earn points when other players discover them, chase badges by capping unusual types, join a Guild and compete in Gauntlet Games, or connect with the community at player-hosted events around the world. With more than 1,500 events hosted by players, there’s always another way to get involved.
