Freeze Tag Caps Off Spooktacular October With Worldwide Munzee Festival: “MHQ Bash”
TUSTIN, CA, November 2, 2018 – Freeze Tag (OTC: FRZT), a leading creator of location-based mobile social games, successfully welcomed hundreds of players to its Texas offices for the 5th annual Munzee Headquarters (MHQ) Bash festival. The event, which kicked off Friday October 26, included a weekend full of in-game specials from many of Freeze Tag’s games.
The weekend saw increased activity from players present at MHQ Bash as well as Munzee’s worldwide community. To encourage gameplay throughout the weekend, players worldwide had the opportunity to earn two limited edition Halloween-themed achievement badges by capturing and deploying munzees. Over the course of the weekend nearly 96,000 new munzees were deployed, and more than 2.8 million munzees were captured.
“The fifth annual MHQ Bash has once again proven how in-person events impact the player community,” said Rob Vardeman, President of Freeze Tag. “Throughout the world, players hosted events attended by thousands who shared food, fun and Munzee festivities.
A leading factor in the munzee capture total was the 1.3 million virtual munzees that were captured by Blast Captures. Known as “Blast Caps” by the player community, these in-game items give players the ability to capture up to 100 virtual munzees at a time. Blast Captures have become a staple within the game and are a key growth driver during event seasons.
Another significant role in the weekend’s staggering munzee capture total was the increased deployments of Temporary Virtual Munzees. Temporary Virtuals are deployed on a new layer of the map, so players don’t have to worry about trying to deploy in areas that are already populated with other munzees. Nearly 370,000 Temporary Virtuals were captured in the month of October with more than 250,000 of those captured during MHQ Bash weekend.
The weekend-long event tied into a much larger month full of Halloween-themed Munzee events. In a record-breaking turnout there were 193 events hosted in October, with nearly 5,000 attendees at events throughout the world.
Although MHQ Bash was primarily focused on Munzee, other Freeze Tag games also played a prominent role throughout the weekend. Friday evening showcased a ghostly ZeeTour to historically haunted locations throughout the Historic Downtown district of McKinney, TX. Saturday featured an Eventzee photo scavenger hunt in the morning and a WallaBee player meetup in the afternoon. MH-Boo Bash then wrapped up the weekend Sunday morning with a “Trick Or Trot” 3K walk/jog/run, in which players captured special Munzee physical game pieces along the way.
With October finished, attention is now focused on Munzee Christmas events, which were announced Wednesday afternoon. Traditionally winter holiday events have proven very popular within the player community, so expectations are high for the end of the year.
